The Design Process

The  excellence in design and craftsmanship at Masterpiece Woodworking stand above the rest. Whether you are remodeling, building, or looking for that piece you’ve dreamed about, Masterpiece Woodworking has the solution for your project.

From Design to Reality

A variety of wood species are available. From more traditional woods, Walnut, Maple and Ash to more uncommon woods. Whatever species, all lumber is hand selected to maximize the color, texture and grain.  We are happy to make recommendations based upon the clients desires.  Wood is a natural product and will experience the seasonal movements of expansion and contraction.  Every effort is made during construction to accommodate for this movement and insure decades of trouble free use.

We use oil based finishes to highlight the natural beauty of the wood.  Eco-friendly shellac and water based products are also used in certain projects.  Color altering products are typically not used on our work. The functionality of the piece often dictates the level of protection needed from the finish. This is taken into careful consideration during the finishing process.

Given the nature and value of our work, it is critical to have a shipping carrier that is sensitive to the special handling requirements of custom furniture.  All work is either blanket wrapped or crated, and is fully insured for shipping.  Some small items can be shipped via UPS or FedEx.  We currently ship anywhere in the USA and Canada.  Shipping charges are not included in the price of the work and will be quoted as an additional charge.  Shipping estimates can be provided upon request.

Care for the Planet:

At Masterpiece Woodworking, we choose environmentally friendly materials such as locally sourced woods, finishes, natural stone, minerals as well as recycled or repurposed items. When purchasing materials, we choose sustainable sources whenever possible.

Another benefit to quality furniture or cabinetry from Masterpiece Woodworking is that the pieces are made to last for generations and are not disposable pieces, but heirlooms.

Being a small studio with a small carbon footprint, we have the ability to control and manage all manufacturing waste responsibly.  Scrap wood and Sawdust is used for compost or animal bedding.
